Concept

To use the construction, history, and relationships of the wooden sailboat and implement them into a public space. It will include a marina, restaurant, and lounge that provides a variety of experiences for its patrons.

Goals

To provide excellent food and service that reflects the diversity of this southern continent.  In addition, entertain all who want to engage in a marina’s atmosphere, and to provide wooden boat rentals and sailing excursions.

Downtown Seattle, Two Union Square Tower, 740 ft. tall, Built in 1989,56 floors, Tenant Space: portion of 43rd floor, 2,000 sq.ft.

Concept

• create a professional and imaginative setting
• public and private spaces using the view as a focal point
• movable wood and glass walls
• light and fresh environment
• mimic the gentle curve of the exterior space
• elements of the Adagiato and Delano furniture by utilizing clean lines, harmony with materials and a modern style
• Delano lounge chair brings a sense of formality and function
• lounge chairs with tablet arms for the conference room which bring a unconventional feel to the space
• use Kimball products to create a total office package

The owner desires a home that is relaxing yet stimulating, a place for private retreat that allows for social interaction in an urban setting. I have created a one-story house that uses the horizontal plane to create a grounded environment. The home consists of spaces that form three axes that are oriented around an inner courtyard.

Location

This site is located in the residential neighborhood of Greenlake in Seattle, Washington. This neighborhood attracts all ages in a calm yet active urban setting. The site is on a quiet residential street three blocks from the lake. The Greenlake neighborhood combines residential and commercial places such as restaurants, stores and small shops. There are many physical activities going on– walking, running, rowing, bicycling, etc. Greenlake is a relatively old neighborhood with great diversity in architectural style.

• the suite: a private quiet place to get work done, can accommodate two people (utilizes hoteling)
• workstations are bars where the staff can work while communicating with others or accomplishing tasks on their own
• conference rooms are team meeting areas that can be used for a variety of activities and exchanges
• alternative work spaces are the working lounges which can be used for quiet working or meeting and since wireless technology is used, a person could sit down in a chair and use their laptop to work
• the break area is a bar that can be used for eating, meeting, and  office parties, it can expand into the adjacent  rooms due to accordion walls
